Not to be outdone by Sony, Microsoft has announced that its Xbox One has also sold over one-million units in less than 24 hours of availability. Sony also announced last week that its PS4 sold one-million units in 24 hours of availability, but its launch was limited to just North America as opposed to the Xbox One’s launch in 13 different markets. Regardless, one thing is clear, both companies are enjoying their greatest console launches yet and it’s a great time to be a gamer.
The company also announced that it is working to replenish its stock of consoles at all retailers worldwide in order to help meet the unprecedented demand from customers. Microsoft also released some interesting statistics about the Xbox One and its newest games. In the last 24 hours, over 60-million zombies were killed in Dead Rising 3 while over 3.6-million miles have already been driven in Forza Motorsport 5. In addition, over 7.1-million combos have been executed in Killer Instinct and over 8.5-million enemies have been slain in Ryse: Son of Rome.
Even Xbox One gamers had time to exercise, with over 43.3-million Fit Points earned in Xbox Fitness.
“We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, Xbox. “Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season.”
