I’m not sure why I expected anything less from Yoshi-P and his team at Creative Business Unit III, but it does feel like Square Enix hasn’t been this confident in a mainline Final Fantasy title in a very long time. Along with advanced previews for select media and the game going gold over two months in advance, Yoshi-P recently took the stage at PAX East and shared plenty of new gameplay footage for the upcoming RPG.
Now, Sony has announced a State of Play for Thursday, April 13, at 2:00pm PDT or 5:00pm EDT that will deliver over 20 minutes of new Final Fantasy XVI gameplay.
“From the moment Final Fantasy XVI debuted in our 2020 PlayStation 5 Showcase, fans around the world have eagerly awaited details on the game’s dark fantasy setting, the powerful Eikons and the Dominants who house them, and the flashy battle system teased in those early trailers,” wrote Brett Elston on the PlayStation Blog. “We’re happy to announce this week’s State of Play will dive into all this and more, so tune in live on Twitch or YouTube April 13 at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 11pm CEST, then get ready for Final Fantasy XVI’s PS5 launch on June 22.”
