The Nintendo Wii U 4.0 update is going live and expands the capabilities of Nintendo’s console. Of the several major changes added in the latest update, the most notable is the ability to play Wii games on the Gamepad tablet. Unfortunately, the Wii games aren’t compatible with the controls on the Gamepad so you still have to use a Wiimote in order to play those games. Strange yes, but at least there’s the functionality if someone really wants to get you off the television. Hopefully Nintendo is able to work in a patch in the future that makes the Gamepad compatible with Wii games. In addition, Wii games are now able to output Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound.

Another major feature includes the addition of an image sharing tool similar to one found on the Nintendo 3DS. Gamers can easily share screenshots onto social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Demos from the Nintendo eStore can also be automatically downloaded and select USB keyboards are now supported on the system.

While not as major of a feature, the web browser can now open PDF files and users can save login details to websites.

You can hit the source link to view the changes, but note that they’re translated from Japanese.
