The first handheld PC that officially runs on SteamOS and isn’t a Steam Deck is now available for preorder. It’s the Lenovo Legion S, which also has a Windows variant that launched earlier this year. The SteamOS version is available in two flavors; the more affordable option is priced at $549.99 and is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 Go with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. The more expensive option is priced at $749.99 and is equipped with the more powerful AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. Both devices come with an 8″ 120Hz PureSight Display with VRR, 16:10 aspect ratio, 500 nits brightness, 100 percent sRGB color, and 10-point touch support.
For battery life, the Lenovo Legion Go S comes with a 55.5Wh battery and Rapid Charge Pro technology that delivers 50 percent in 30 minutes and a full charge in 90 minutes. The device tips the scales at 1.6 pounds and features a Nebula polymer finish to differentiate it from the Windows unit, which has a Glacier White exterior. The Lenovo Legion Go S does support microSD for storage expansion up to 2TB.
So, if you’re looking for a handheld PC that’s more powerful than the Steam Deck but delivers a SteamOS experience, the Legion Go S is your best option right now. It should just be a matter of time, though, before more devices from ASUS and MSI arrive on the market.
Both versions are now available for preorder at Best Buy and will launch on May 25, 2025.
