The number of indie games being published on Steam these days is completely overwhelming, and it’s getting to the point that it’s difficult to separate shovelware from a real diamond in the rough. However, during the PC Gaming Show 2023, one particular indie game caught our attention, and it’s one we’ll be keeping an eye on. The game is called Nivalis, and it is a “cyberpunk voxel slice-of-life sim” game from ION LANDS, the developers behind Cloudpunk.

Nivalis is a city of wonder, adorned with neon-lit towers that ascend into the sky. In the game, players will control the life they live in Nivalis, starting off by opening a food stall, a noodle stand, or a stim store. From there, it’s all up to the players to build their way up to a bar, a restaurant, or even a nightclub. Want to own all the nightlife in Nivalis? That’s a possibility.

Nivalis will feature realistic weather simulation and night-and-day cycles, alongside interactions with a diverse cast of characters. Of course, this isn’t the perfect city. Nivalis is packed with threats, such as gangs who want to harvest your organs and a mysterious serial killer called “The Aseptic.”

Nivalis will be published by 505 Games when it releases sometime in 2024. Learn more about Nivalis by watching the two videos below.
