BioWare has broken its silence on the next Dragon Age game, revealing that it has a new title, and we’ll get our first look at it on June 11. Originally known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, the next game is now titled Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The premiere will be on the Dragon Age YouTube Channel at 8:00am Pacific (11:00am Eastern) on June 11 and will feature over 15 minutes of gameplay, starting at the beginning of the game. Dragon Age veterans can look forward to jumping back into Thedas for a new adventure.
The BioWare team also shared that, following Dragon Age: Inquisition’s launch, it explored, tested, and validated different gameplay concepts. The team admitted it even tried a multiplayer concept since it brought everything to the table. Fortunately, the exploration resulted in them refocusing on making a single-player game, with all the choices, characters, and world-building one would expect from BioWare.
As for the name change, BioWare noted that each Dragon Age game introduces a new lead hero that players can call their own. Naturally, that’s the case with Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and along with a unique hero, there is going to be a memorable cast of companions. So players can expect seven unique characters in the upcoming title that they will unite to take on a terrifying new threat in Thedas. The Dread Wolf remains an important part of this story, but ultimately, it’s the player and their companions that are the heart of the new experience.
