During today’s PAX West keynote, Paradox Interactive announced that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is back and is in development by The Chinese Room. The developer will bring its award-winning storytelling to Bloodlines 2, which is currently set to launch in fall 2024. Paradox also said that a gameplay reveal will happen in January 2024.
The Chinese Room is a Sumo Digital studio and is the developer behind Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. The studio is also currently working on Still Wakes the Deep, which is set to release in 2024 as well.
The original Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines was released in November 2004 and was developed by Troika Games. Bloodlines 2 is a direct sequel and will take players to the dark underbelly of Seattle, where vampires struggle for survival and supremacy. In the game, players will take on the role of an Elder vampire and will meet compelling characters, maneuver complex political relationships, stalk the city for prey, and engage in combat while balancing the need for blood. Of course, players will need to be mindful of their surroundings, or risk breaking the Masquerade, which is the absolute law of secrecy that keeps vampire society hidden from humanity.
Bloodlines 2 was originally supposed to release in March 2020 but hit plenty of delays before developer Hardsuit Labs was taken off the game entirely. It was delayed indefinitely in 2021, but now it appears to be on track with the appropriate developers at the helm.
