Turok is making its return this fall, and Saber Interactive has a new gameplay trailer for the reboot, Turok: Origins, to show for it. The fast-paced sci-fi shooter is coming to PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC, and the fresh footage lays out its blend of solo and online co-op action against a backdrop of dinosaurs and aliens.
In Origins, you play as one of the Order of the Turok, mystical guardians fighting to keep dinosaurs and an alien invasion from wiping out humanity across the Lost Lands. Combat mixes first- and third-person action, with an arsenal that runs from bows and shotguns to plasma rifles and experimental alien tech, all of it upgradeable as you go. Collecting Echoes unlocks Turok Powers, abilities you can mix and match to shape your combat style. Under the new sci-fi coat of paint, though, the core is familiar. You are still shooting dinosaurs.
Everything around that dino-shooting, though, marks a real departure from the Turok longtime players remember. The original Turok: Dinosaur Hunter landed on the Nintendo 64 in 1997 as a single-player affair, and Origins swaps that for a co-op-focused, sci-fi-leaning take that has split fans since the footage started rolling out. Saber does have a strong co-op track record, having built World War Z and Space Marine 2, and it is pitching Origins as a modern reimagining rather than a straight continuation.
