When Jennifer English stepped away from Tides of Annihilation last month, Eclipse Glow Games said she had helped find her replacement and that we’d hear the new actress for the first time at gamescom. Now we know who it is. Angela Sant’Albano (Resident Evil Requiem) is officially taking over as Gwendolyn, with her performance debuting today during Opening Night Live.
The new trailer focuses more on the story following the destruction of London, as Gwendolyn struggles with suddenly inheriting the mystical power once wielded by King Arthur. Guinevere encourages her to embrace the Fog and use it to save both London and Avalon, while the footage also introduces another of the game’s spectral Knights of the Round Table. This time, we get our first look at Sir Lancelot fighting alongside Gwendolyn.
After English announced she was leaving the role, I said I was hoping the transition behind the mic would go well since she had been a big part of the game’s appeal from its initial reveal. Sant’Albano certainly has some big shoes to fill, but this is our first real opportunity to hear her interpretation of Gwendolyn. Everything else we’ve seen from Tides of Annihilation has continued to move in the right direction, and it seems like the developers have addressed the initial writing and dialogue that was one of my bigger question marks.
Players at gamescom will also be able to try Tides of Annihilation for themselves for the first time. The hands-on demo is available in Hall 6 at Booth B-050 and will be running on GeForce RTX 5080 GPUs with NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation support. The game has also added Brazilian Portuguese, bringing its total supported languages to 11.
Tides of Annihilation is in development for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, but Eclipse Glow Games still hasn’t announced a release date
