In my Absolum review earlier this year, I wrote about growing up in 1990s arcades, where licensed beat ’em ups like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time and The Simpsons Arcade Game were built to swallow as many quarters as possible, and how those cabinets still largely inspire the genre today. Now it’s The Walking Dead’s turn. TRAILMARK Games and AMC Global Media today announced The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival, a single-player, retro pixel-art beat ’em up developed by Odaclick Game Studio, the team behind The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

The campaign reimagines the All-Out War storyline from the AMC series, the arc that brought the conflict between Rick’s group and Negan’s Saviors to a head. You’ll play as Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne, each with their own fighting style, stats, and abilities, along with their trademark weapons: Rick’s magnum, Michonne’s katana, and Daryl’s crossbow. Stages run through familiar locations like the Sanctuary, Hilltop, and Alexandria, dressed up with dynamic set pieces and story-driven moments.

Combat mixes brutal melee abilities with crowd-clearing ranged attacks as you fight through walker swarms and gangs of Saviors. Boss fights include fan-favorite walkers like Winslow and the Well Walker, while Negan and Simon show up for multi-phase battles of their own. There’s also a replayable Arcade Challenge built around mastering each character’s moveset across multiple difficulty levels, plus an optional Easy Mode for anyone who just wants to brawl casually.

The Walking Dead’s gaming adaptations have taken plenty of forms over the years, including The Walking Dead: Destinies, which we covered back in 2023 as a What If? spin on the show’s first four seasons. This one also doubles as the debut announcement from TRAILMARK Games, a brand-new publisher with more reveals promised in the near future.

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is coming to PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet. A demo is available now on Steam if you want to start cracking walker skulls early.
