Telltale Games has announced that The Walking Dead will be heading to the OUYA console in winter this year. All five episodes in The Walking Dead: Season One and the 400 Days DLC will be available on OUYA, with the whole Episode 1 completely free to try. Telltale Games also has plans to bring Season Two of the game to the console as well.
The OUYA was first announced in 2012 and is essentially an Android-powered console for the home. Development for the system was funded by Kickstarter and raised $8.5 million. OUYA units began shipping to customers earlier this year and was released to the general public on June 25, 2013 for $99. All games on the OUYA are required to have some kind of free-to-play aspect to them, whether they’re completely free, has a free trial, or has purchasable upgrades, levels, or other in-game items.
Undoubtedly the addition of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead will strengthen the console’s sales pitch, considering how great the game is.
