As they say, the third time’s a charm, right? The Nintendo Switch is getting a third Mario Party game when Super Mario Party Jamboree launches on October 17. It joins 2018’s Super Mario Party and 2021’s Mario Party Superstars on the Switch, and a look at the sales data shows why Nintendo is keen to release a third Mario Party game this generation. The most recent data from Nintendo revealed that Mario Party Superstars has sold 12.89 million units, while Super Mario Party is the seventh best-selling first-party game at 20.66 million units.

The latest entry in the Mario Party series has Mario and friends arriving on an island resort that will feature five new game boards, including Rainbow Galleria, Roll ’em Raceway, Goomba Lagoon, and others. Mario’s Rainbow Castle from the original Mario Party and Western Land from Mario Party 2 will also return in Super Mario Party Jamboree. In total, the game will feature over 110 minigames, the largest selection in the series to date.

More surprisingly, a new mode called Koopathlon is being introduced, allowing up to 20 players to go head-to-head in online play. he mode has a bit of a Fall Guys feel, based on what we’ve seen. The trailer also teases that more surprise game modes are in store, as Super Mario Party Jamboree will be the biggest Mario Party game yet.
