It’s only been six weeks since The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hit theaters, and Nintendo and Illumination’s animated sequel has already become 2026’s highest-grossing film. Now Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is bringing it home, with digital purchases available starting May 19, 2026, followed by 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 16, 2026.
Anyone picking up a physical copy or a digital purchase from participating retailers will get over an hour of bonus content. The headline feature is Next Level: Making The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, a behind-the-scenes piece with Nintendo’s creators and Illumination’s filmmakers. The package also includes shorter features on the cast, the film’s settings, composer Brian Tyler’s score, the various power-ups, and a guide to the Easter eggs hidden throughout the film. The bonus content is the main reason to buy rather than rent.
For anyone hoping to catch it on subscription streaming, you’ll be waiting a bit. Universal’s long-term deal with Netflix means The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will land on Peacock first before moving over for a stretch, then eventually returning. For reference, the original Super Mario Bros. Movie took about four months after its theatrical release to land on Peacock, so don’t expect a different timeline this time around.
