Last month, Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 is indeed real and will be launching sometime in 2025. The company released a teaser trailer of sorts, showcasing the new console, but didn’t really share any details. Initially, many hoped the Nintendo Direct date was following the European date format, meaning it would air on February 4, 2025—but Nintendo quickly clarified that 4.2.2025 indeed means April 2, 2025. Earlier today, it confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will air at 6:00am Pacific (9:00am Eastern) and will offer a closer look at the popular Switch’s successor.

Shortly after the presentation on April 2, Nintendo will kick off a series of Switch 2 Experience Events around the world. New York and Paris will be first, and there will be stops in Los Angeles, Dallas, Toronto, London, Milano, Berlin, Madrid, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Taipei.

Just yesterday, Nintendo shared its latest financial results, confirming that the current Switch has now reached 150.86 million units in sales. That’s still short of the PlayStation 2’s record of over 160 million, but it’s still a possibility that the Switch could overtake it to become the best-selling video game console of all time.
