Looks like Square Enix wants to give players one more reason to lock in on The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales before its June 18 release. Like many of Square Enix’s recent games, a new Prologue Demo is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, with progress carrying straight over to the full game at launch.

Following the game’s July 2025 reveal, Square Enix released a debut demo on Switch 2, but save data from that earlier demo doesn’t transfer to the retail version. The new Prologue Demo covers the opening chapter of the story with the same freedom of adventure as in the full game, letting players progress through the main quest, explore the world, and start hunting down new weapons and magicite. Square Enix notes that some areas are gated off compared to the retail release, and any linked save data bonuses, the ones you’d normally pick up from having other Square Enix titles installed, cannot be redeemed inside the demo itself.

Nowadays, Square Enix has a habit of dropping demos about a month before launch, and the Prologue Demo also doubles as the digital preorder entry point on Switch 2, which previously only had physical preorders available. If you’re on the fence about the $229.99 Collector’s Edition or the Digital Deluxe Edition, this is a pretty low-risk way to figure out whether the HD-2D action RPG clicks for you before committing.
