Nintendo and the Super Mario franchise are enjoying a great deal of success this year, with its record-setting movie and a new 2D game set for release this year. Now, we have an unexpected collaboration with OREO teaming up with Nintendo to release limited-edition cookies inspired by the world of Super Mario.
The limited-edition OREO x Super Mario cookies feature 16 unique embossments that range from iconic characters to power-ups and even enemies, like Goomba and Bowser Jr. Each pack is filled with random designs, but one is noticeably missing: Princess Peach. As part of the promotion, OREO is creating a social challenge to stop Bowser from taking over the castle in Princess Peach’s absence. Fans can participate by doing the following: On the rim of a glass of milk, stack as many hero-embossed cookies as possible atop a Bowser cookie until he is defeated (a.k.a. the cookies fall into the milk.) Share a video of the delicious defeat on social!
OREO teased that it may reveal a surprise as a thank you to those who successfully defeat Bowser and save the kingdom, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Starting Monday, July 10, the limited-edition Super Mario OREOs will be available at retailers nationwide in the U.S. To participate in the social challenge, use the hashtag #SuperMarioOREO.
