Summer Game Fest has announced it will return on Friday, June 5, 2026, to deliver another cross-platform showcase of what’s next in video games. Next year, the annual event will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles instead of the YouTube Theater. Depending on whom you ask, it’s an upgrade, considering the Dolby Theatre (formerly known as the Kodak Theatre) is home to the annual Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars.

Those who wish to attend Summer Game Fest 2026 will have to wait until spring 2026 to get their hands on tickets. While Summer Game Fest tends to be less exciting than Geoff Keighley’s other show, The Game Awards, it does fill the void left behind now that E3 is a thing of the past. This year’s show included several major announcements, like a boxing game that completely won me over and Resident Evil Requiem.

Assuming Grand Theft Auto VI doesn’t get delayed again, Summer Game Fest 2026 will happen mere weeks after the game’s release. With what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest game releases in history out of the way, there’s a good chance we’ll see some major announcements at next year’s Summer Game Fest.
