We are exactly two months away from Summer Game Fest 2025, as the event has sent out a reminder that it will be making its return on June 6. This year will be the sixth annual Summer Game Fest, hosted by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley. Once again, the main event will happen at YouTube Theater with ticket sales and more information coming sometime in May. From June 7 to June 9, downtown Los Angeles will play host to Summer Game Fest: Play Days. These events have essentially replaced E3, which officially said its goodbyes in December 2023.
The date for Summer Game Fest was actually confirmed back in January by Keighley; it’s just being mentioned today because it’s two months away. What makes the date more interesting now though, is that it’ll be the day after the Nintendo Switch 2 officially launches. Chances are, we can now expect plenty of Switch 2-related news at the event.
Last year’s Summer Game Fest was a decent show, presenting trailers for LEGO Horizon Adventures, Star Wars Outlaws, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Batman: Arkham Shadow, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Wanderstop, Dune: Awakening, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Phantom Blade Zero. This year’s show should be interesting because the release schedule for the second half of 2025 is a bit empty. Major titles with confirmed release dates include Donkey Kong Bananza, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and Borderlands 4. It seems as though many publishers are waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI’s release date to be announced.
