Star Wars fans have more than just Fate of the Old Republic to look forward to. Also announced at The Game Awards 2025 was Star Wars: Galactic Racer, which has a 2026 release window for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It comes from Fuse Games and Lucasfilm Games and features developers from the Need for Speed and Burnout franchises. Today’s reveal trailer gives us a first look at a new character named Shade, who is being described as a lone racer with a dream of glory and revenge. Star Wars: Galactic Racer will feature a campaign where players will learn more about Shade as they try to survive long enough to become an elite racing pilot. The game will also ship with multiplayer.

What’s interesting is that Star Wars: Galactic Racer isn’t just going to be about pod racing. The trailer shows off racers of all types, including landspeeders and speederbikes. We also see Jakku and Ando Prime as some of the environments being turned into race tracks. The game is being described as a run-based, high-stakes reinvention of racing, which certainly sounds a bit like a roguelite.

“We’ve drawn real inspiration from runs-based games so the player will have meaningful, consequential decisions to be making on how they chose their path to become an elite racing pilot — from the vehicle they choose to start with, the upgrade choices they make to create a build that really suits their playstyle and what events they select in determining their path to become champion of the League,” says Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster. “Along the way you’ll compete with rivals, journey to new planets, and master different classes of repulsor craft — or speeders — each with their own distinct capabilities.”
