Three years ago, Sony launched a loyalty program called PlayStation Stars, which rewarded players for simply playing games. Some of these rewards included unique Digital Collectibles that pay homage to PlayStation games and the brand’s legacy. For those who appreciated the PlayStation Stars program, it’s unfortunately being shut down. Sony says it has been evaluating which activities resonate most with players and now wants to refocus on exploring new ways to evolve its loyalty programs.
Starting today, May 21, PlayStation Stars will no longer accept new members for the current version of the program. Those who cancel their membership starting today will not be able to rejoin this version of the program, and they will lose all earned Points. Current PlayStation Stars members can still earn Digital Collectibles, Points, and level up their status until July 23, 2025 at 7:59 AM Pacific (10:59 AM Eastern). After that date, there will be no new PlayStation Stars campaigns available or any additional rewards or status benefits to earn. The current program will fully end on November 2, 2026, and members can continue to redeem points as long as they don’t expire before then.
Sony says players who have earned Digital Collectibles will still be able to access them after the program fully shuts down.
