One of my most highly anticipated sequels of 2025, Slay the Spire 2, has released its first gameplay trailer. Players will step into a newly evolved Spire with the sequel featuring a new and returning cast of characters, along with brand new cards, relics, and potions. Those who have spent dozens or hundreds of hours in Slay the Spire will find the gameplay trailer for Slay the Spire 2 familiar, but there are definitely new cards to check out, so be ready to pause. Confirmed classes in the game include Ironclad, Silent, Necrobinder, and a mysterious unnamed class.

The game is being rewritten from the ground up in a new game engine, Godot, since Mega Crit was one of the more vocal developers during the Unity debacle. Check out the official gameplay trailer, and as someone who has spent dozens of hours in Slay the Spire, I can’t wait for the sequel next year.
