Skyrim sales have topped 20 million worldwide, Bethesda announced quietly in a press release for The Elder Scrolls Online. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was originally released worldwide on November 11, 2011 for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A Legendary Edition of the game was released on June 4, 2013 in North America before arriving Europe on June 7, 2013.

The latest milestone for Skyrim makes it the highest-selling Elder Scrolls game yet and could mean big things for the upcoming release for The Elder Scrolls Online, which will be a subscription-based MMORPG releasing on the PC and Mac on April 4, 2014. It will then head to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles in June, 2014.
