The simulator genre has brought some of the wackiest games imaginable, and now Saber Interactive is tossing its hat in the ring. Picking up strangers and listening to whatever they feel like telling you is the whole hook of Rideshare “Stimulator,” which Saber Interactive announced today. The quotation marks are intentional. Developed by UNIGINE, it hands you your own rideshare business in a city built so that no two fares play out the same way.
Your driving style and the condition of your car both feed into how passengers react, which affects ratings, reviews, and tips. Better ratings grow the business, which opens up new and upgradable vehicles to drive. Between fares you’re expected to keep the car clean and fix whatever needs fixing before the next person climbs in.
The city runs on a full traffic system, so you’re waiting at lights, yielding to pedestrians, and generally driving like someone who wants to protect their rating. Saber says the streets pull from both European and American cities. The passenger stories play an important role in the experience, ranging from funny and captivating to what the studio calls “just plain weird,” and the idea is that you’ll be dodging traffic and racing the clock while all of it unfolds in your back seat.
Steve Allison, chief business officer at Saber Interactive, described it as a mix of relaxing and driving simulation gameplay, and said players will get exaggerated versions of what a real rideshare driver might or might not run into. Rideshare “Stimulator” is coming to PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC later this year, and wishlists are open now.
