Rockstar Games, the developer behind the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series, has announced that it is acquiring Video Games Deluxe. The Sydney-based development studio will be renamed Rockstar Australia, and it has worked closely with Rockstar Games over the past decade. Some of the titles include the 2017 re-releases of L.A. Noire, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. The relationship between the two studios began with Video Games Deluxe’s founder Brendan McNamara’s former studio, Team Bondi, which created L.A. Noire.
According to Video Games Deluxe’s LinkedIn page, the company is currently looking for experienced programmers to work on a new project. We found a post from four years ago indicating that the studio was gearing up for a new project, so chances are we should be hearing more about it soon.
Rockstar Games is expected to have a big year this year with the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI. Unfortunately for PC gamers, it will be available only on consoles at launch. Grand Theft Auto V, however, is getting a free update tomorrow that will add features previously available only on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online.
