Rockstar Games has announced that the original Red Dead Redemption will debut on current-generation consoles and the latest mobile devices on December 2. The game will receive free upgrades, including the ability to carry over game progress and numerous enhancements. Those who haven’t experienced the story of John Marston will be able to jump in on the device of their choice, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Netflix, Android, and iOS.

On mobile, the game will have mobile-friendly control options, while Netflix subscribers will be able to download and play on December 2 as part of their subscription. Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will get a smooth 60 FPS experience, along with enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. It doesn’t sound like the Switch 2 will deliver a 4K experience, as Rockstar Games simply said “high resolution,” but it will run at 60 FPS and support DLSS, HDR, and mouse controls.

If you currently own the game on PlayStation 4, Switch, or the digital backward-compatible version on Xbox One, you will be able to upgrade digitally for free. PlayStation 4 and Switch players can transfer their previous save data to the updated version.

The new console versions were created in collaboration with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games, and will be available in the GTA+ Games Library as well as the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on December 2.

Red Dead Redemption Coming to Netflix, iOS, Android, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2
