It’s almost hard to believe the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles were released nearly five years ago, considering how many recent titles are still cross-generation with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, some developers are finally moving on from last-gen. Last week, Genshin Impact confirmed it will discontinue support for PlayStation 4, and now PUBG: Battlegrounds has confirmed that, starting November 13, 2025, PUBG Console will be supported only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This announcement isn’t a surprise, as it was mentioned in the game’s 2025 roadmap.
By focusing on current-gen consoles only, PUBG: Battlegrounds can provide a more stable gameplay environment, improved visuals, and more stable frame rates. The team also expects to reduce ongoing crashes through memory-related optimizations.
After maintenance on November 13, PUBG Console will be playable only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players’ existing account data and purchased items will be preserved, and users can log in to their accounts on current-gen consoles to continue playing. PlayStation users will need to download the PlayStation 5 version, while Xbox owners will automatically get the current-gen version via Smart Delivery.
Following the transition, the game will have new supported specifications:
Xbox Series S
- 1080p at 60fps or 1440p at 30fps (players can choose between the two settings)
Xbox Series X
- 4K at 60fps (supports Dynamic 4K resolution)
PlayStation 5
- 1440p at 60fps
PlayStation 5 Pro
- 4K at 60fps (supports Dynamic 4K resolution)
