Nintendo has announced that worldwide sales of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y eclipsed four million in the games’ first two days of availability. Released on October 12, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y was joined by the availability of the Nintendo 2DS. Over the weekend, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y sold over four million units across Japan, Europe and The Americas.
This was actually the first time the Pokemon franchise has had a global launch. But one thing is for sure, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are the fastest-selling Nintendo 3DS games of all time and are tracking ahead of the last Pokemon releases, Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2.
“The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans, but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers is eager to experience the franchise for itself,” said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.
