During today’s State of Play, Sony revealed the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for October 2025, which includes Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon. All three titles will be available starting on October 7 for PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers. From Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake 2 was a long-awaited sequel that finally launched on October 27, 2023. The suspenseful survival horror game is a great PlayStation Plus addition for the Halloween season, and one I thoroughly enjoyed playing in early 2024. In my Alan Wake 2 review, I said the game approaches the threshold of a masterpiece, but frustratingly stops just short of crossing it.

Another title in next month’s lineup that I really enjoyed is Cocoon. This is a puzzle adventure game from Jeppe Carlsen, the lead gameplay designer behind Limbo and Inside. In my Cocoon review, I praised it for its minimalist teaching approach, delivering pure satisfaction once I figured out how to solve each puzzle with little guidance. For me, it was one of the most unforgettable games of 2023 and reminded me a lot of 2012’s Journey.

As for Goat Simulator 3, well, that game really needs no introduction. This sandbox farmyard experience lets players wreak havoc as the goat Pilgor on the island of San Angora. The latest entry lets players invite up to three friends to join in on the fun. Really, the game’s disclaimer on its Steam page describes it best: “Since it launched in November 2022, Goat Simulator 3 has been a completely stupid game. It is still a completely stupid game today, except now it has more stuff! By this point if you’re not sure what you’re getting into, we can’t help you.”

PlayStation also announced that The Last of Us Part II and The Last of Us Part II Remastered will join the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on September 26, 2025, as part of the upcoming celebrations for The Last of Us Day. As for the Classics Catalog for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, Tekken 3, Soulcalibur III, and Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be added later this year.
