Peter Molyneux, the designer known for creating Fable, Populous, Dungeon Keeper, and Black & White, is readying his next title: Masters of Albion. Originally announced in August 2024, this new entry in the God Game genre is now set to launch on April 22, 2026, exclusively on PC via Steam. Joining Molyneux on this project are several more veterans of the industry, including Mark Healey, Russell Shaw, Iain Wright, and Kareem Ettouney. This collection of developers contributed to Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, and the original Fable.
Masters of Albion hopes to reimagine the God Game genre by blending strategy, simulation, town management, and real-time defense. It blends gameplay mechanics from multiple genres, giving players the power and freedom to create or destroy. They have the ability to design and instantly build every structure, along with hiring, housing, and managing their workforce. As for wielding the God Hand, that includes manipulating buildings, possessing and controlling the living, and managing the people through inspiration and reward, or insult and punishment. There’s an element of tower defense too, as players will have to design, build, and arm powerful defensive turrets while hiring heroes to protect the people.
As someone who grew up on many of Molyneux’s games, I’m hoping Masters of Albion scratches a little bit of that simulation itch. “Masters of Albion is the culmination of my life’s work, a game that owes so much to titles like Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, and Fable,” said Molyneux. “It’s a totally unique game that we hope will delight players, a game that brings God Games into the modern gaming landscape and puts the genre firmly back on the map.”
