It’s a bit strange to think that Path of Exile is going to be celebrating its official release on October 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM PT, but that’s exactly what is going to happen. The game, which is free-to-play and has been publicly accessible during its open beta for several months now will introduce Path of Exile 1.0.0 to the general public and will bring a series of changes and additions to the live game.
The biggest of those feature additions is undoubtedly the Scion Prestige Class. The Scion will be aligned with all three core attributes in Path of Exile – Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence – which means it’ll be smack in the center of the passive skill tree. The Scion class will only be accessible once Path of Exile players have played through the Normal Difficulty in any league.
Speaking of leagues, two new four-month challenge leagues will be going live with Path of Exile 1.0.0, Domination and Nemesis. The new challenge leagues will run until February 23, 2014. As far as additions to 1.0.0, new areas, monsters and a climactic boss fight have all been added to the game. Path of Exile’s Act 3 has been expanded to a fight with Dominus himself.
Finally, there are new gems, PvP modes, the ability to create guilds and the promise for ongoing content additions once Path of Exile is officially released.
