Sony Music Entertainment and Aniplex announced a joint venture with Pocketpair, the developers of Palworld. The three companies have released a statement on the joint venture, confirming that it will expand commercial business endeavors, including the global licensing and merchandising activities associated with Palworld, outside of the game. While Aniplex’s involvement might signal a potential anime in development, the first efforts from the joint venture will actually be exclusive Palworld merchandise. The merchandise will debut and be available for purchase at the Pocketpair booth during Bilibili World 2024 in Shanghai later this week. Fans in other parts of the world will be able to order online at a later date through Aniplex’s websites.

Palworld swept the gaming community off its feet earlier this year, quickly reaching over 25 million players after just one month. Available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Palworld mixes base-building mechanics with Pals, creatures that bear a heavy resemblance to Pokémon. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with the game earlier this year, and look forward to revisiting it in the future after it receives more substantial updates.
