At BlizzCon 2014, Blizzard Entertainment officially revealed its first new IP in 17 years, Overwatch. The first-person shooter was playable on the floor at the Anaheim Convention Center with a beta arriving next year, meaning the game is closer to release than we’d typically expect from a Blizzard title. At its core, Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer shooter with 6v6 action and a diverse group of heroes to select from. Each hero is unique and are categorized in groups that would be familiar to any MMORPG gamer: Offense, Defense, Tank and Support. Full Cleared had a chance to check out Overwatch at BlizzCon 2014 and came away impressed by how polished the game already is. With the recent news that Titan had been cancelled, it’s easy to conclude that much of Titan’s development and assets have resurfaced in Overwatch. In fact, we’d speculate that Overwatch is what Titan’s PvP mode would have been, but simplified.

But in true Blizzard fashion, Overwatch was revealed through a cinematic trailer featuring animation you’d expect from the likes of Pixar but with the charm that quickly has you falling in love with the game’s characters. Each character is equipped with their own unique weapons ranging from rocket launchers to sniper rifles with three unique skills that gear towards different play styles. The action is fast-paced and there’s no deathmatch to be found in Overwatch – each game focuses on objectives and teamwork in order to achieve victory.

In the coming days we’ll explore Overwatch more in depth, including our impressions from our time spent with the game and what we hope to see when it enters beta in 2015. Watch the gameplay trailer below.
