Blizzard Entertainment has a thing or two to say to Master Chief come October 27, 2015. The developer has announced that the Overwatch beta will officially begin the same day Halo 5: Guardians is released on the Xbox One. So in less than two weeks time, Blizzard will start sending out the first batch of invites to the Overwatch closed beta that “will be composed of a small number of testers who will have regular access to our public beta test.” As with previous Blizzard closed betas, expect it to be extremely limited although more waves of invites will be sent out from time to time. It’s also worth noting that the Overwatch beta will deploy in the Americas gameplay region with Europe going online next, followed by Asia at a later date.

But don’t fret and start complaining if you don’t get an initial invite to the Overwatch beta come October 27. Blizzard will be doing open beta test weekends from time to time to help stress test their servers and give everyone an opportunity to check out the upcoming game. The larger-scale tests will be brought online occasionally for a limited time and will generally occur over a weekend. The first open test weekend is currently slated for after BlizzCon, which takes place November 6-7, 2015.
