Amiibo is now a reality and Nintendo has demonstrated the new NFC figurines in action. At its launch, the figurines will be supported by Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U, but the company is actively preparing a number of Wii U games to include support for Amiibo, including the recently released Mario Kart 8. Nintendo’s figurines will work similar to how other NFC figurines work: touch it on the Wii U GamePad and the figure’s data will transfer over. But even better, Nintendo’s Amiibo will have two-way data transfer, which means you can actually send data back to your figurine, having it evolve over time.
