Nintendo 3DS Gaining Amiibo Support

Earlier today, Nintendo unveiled its new Amiibo and has confirmed that the 3DS will also support the NFC figurines next year. In addition, Nintendo announced that Mario Kart 8, Mario Party 10, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker and Yoshi’s Woolly World will gain Amiibo support on the Wii U, while no games for the 3DS have yet to be announced. But given that the handheld console won’t support the figurines until next year at the earliest, we don’t expect to hear much news about that compatibility until later down the road.

It’s good to know however that those looking to purchase the figurines when they’re released later this year will also get to take advantage of them on their 3DS handheld consoles.
