Given that the original Xenoblade Chronicles nearly missed localization for North America, it’s impressive that the Nintendo Switch will soon house every Xenoblade Chronicles game. Today, Nintendo announced that Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will launch on the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2025, with enhanced visuals, new story elements, and more. Originally released on the Wii U in 2015, Xenoblade Chronicles X is set in 2054, after humans have fled Earth during an intergalactic war. The story unfolds on the planet Mira, where players assume the role of a member of the New Los Angeles colony.

I’m thrilled that millions more players will get the chance to experience Xenoblade Chronicles X, my favorite game on the Wii U. It differs from the mainline entries in the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy, as players can customize their avatar’s appearance and class. Plus, it features giant mechs called Skells and online multiplayer missions for cooperative play.

Today’s announcement trailer teases a mysterious hooded figure, hinting at new content players will discover in this definitive edition.
