Last year, MultiVersus caused a bit of a stir when the announcement was made that it would shut down until 2024. Now, the developer, Player First Games, has provided an official update, outlining the roadmap to launch and detailing the team’s efforts over the past year. The free-to-play platform fighter will officially launch on May 28, 2024, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Two of the most significant changes revealed today include the game’s transition to Unreal Engine 5 and the overhaul of its netcode.

Game Director Tony Hyunh also mentioned the addition of “some really exciting, brand new personalities to the roster,” though no official reveals were made today. However, concept art of stages dropped some not-so-subtle hints about the potential new characters. MultiVersus is also getting a brand new PvE mode that will introduce new ways of playing with additional rewards.

Expect more details on MultiVersus to be shared in the coming weeks.
