The Mortal Kombat II movie is less than a month away, and Warner Bros. dropped another trailer today to get fans hyped for what’s shaping up to be a proper Mortal Kombat movie. The sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat brings Karl Urban on board as Johnny Cage, the fan-favorite character who was teased at the end of the first film, and this time around, the Earthrealm champions are going head-to-head in the actual Mortal Kombat tournament to stop Shao Kahn from taking over.

The cast is stacked. Urban leads alongside Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Hiroyuki Sanada as both Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion. Director Simon McQuoid returns after helming the first film, with a screenplay by Jeremy Slater. A third movie was already confirmed at New York Comic Con last year, so this is clearly being built as a trilogy.

Mortal Kombat II hits theaters and IMAX across North America on May 8, with international screenings beginning May 6. Tickets are on sale now. Between this and the Street Fighter movie arriving in October, it really does feel like the 1990s all over again.
