Last week, Mortal Kombat 1 was officially announced with a September 19 release date. The game’s PC version now has its own Steam page, which reveals minimum and recommended system requirements. Even though the recommended requirements are reasonable, which suggests the game is well optimized, one aspect stands out: Mortal Kombat 1 requires 100 GB of storage. This follows Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s requirement of 155 GB of storage, and Diablo IV isn’t too far behind Mortal Kombat with 90 GB necessary. Whether or not this becomes a worrying trend remains to be seen, but it’s looking more likely that the era of 100 GB games is on the horizon.

Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of the storied franchise and will bring reimagined versions of iconic fighters including: Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and more. The game is set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC on September 19.
