While developer sunset visitor is celebrating a sales milestone of over 100,000 copies sold for 1000xRESIST, I’m a little shocked that the game’s sales are only 100,000. Next week on May 9, the game will celebrate its one-year anniversary, so I implore you to help celebrate its birthday by grabbing yourself a copy if you like narrative or story-driven titles. The game recently picked up a Peabody Award, is a finalist for the Hugo and Nebula Awards, and is clearly still not getting the attention it deserves.
The team had a few more announcements to make as it passes 100,000 copies sold and nears its first anniversary. It currently has a Steam bundle with Mouthwashing and has released Piano Book Vol. 2, which includes notation for several songs. 1000xRESIST has also announced French, Korean, and Brazilian-Portuguese localizations, though the exact timing for that update will be announced later. The game is also launching an anniversary FanZine on May 9, which will include new artwork, fanfic, recipes, and more.
The developer is also teasing that something is coming on May 16 and on May 22. Fans of the game will want to pay attention to the team’s social media, including Discord and Bluesky.
I picked up 1000xRESIST on a whim before my trip to Japan earlier this year and in my review, I found it to be a brilliant game. It’s focused on telling a story, but does it in a somewhat innovative way that kept me intrigued throughout the 10 or so hours. It’s a very unique experience that resonated with me culturally, and I hope it gets more attention because it deserves more than 100,000 players.
