Overwatch 2 isn’t the only game getting a Street Fighter 6 collaboration this month. As is tradition, Monster Hunter Wilds is also getting a Street Fighter 6 collaboration, which will go live on May 28. The event kicks off with the side mission Ultimate Strength, available from Quinn at the Oilwell Basin Base Camp for hunters at HR 21 or higher. That side mission features Akuma, one of the most iconic fighters from the Street Fighter franchise. Along with the new side mission, the event will also have two arena quests, Demonic Strength and True Strength. Completing all of these events will award players the Akuma Hunter full armor set and layered equipment, the Blanka-Chan Palico full armor set and layered equipment, and a new Hunter profile background, nameplate, and pose. This collaboration will be a permanent addition to the game, so players don’t have to worry about missing out.
Equipping either the Akuma full armor set or the Akuma layered armor set allows players to use his unique item and gestures to perform Akuma’s signature moves in Monster Hunter Wilds. The actions are accessed in the item bar under the Assisted Combo: Akuma command, which branches into various attacks—including special moves like Gou Hadoken and Gou Shoryuken. The attack power of these special moves is determined by the main weapon equipped, and using the full armor set boosts that power considerably compared to the layered set. Also, Assisted Combos and other actions gain stun properties while the Drive Impact action will gain an offset effect when using the full armor set.
Paid DLC is also part of the collaboration, allowing players to outfit Alma in Chun-Li or Cammy costumes. A Blanka-Chan Doll pendant will also be available, along with a set of Street Fighter 6 stickers and gestures. The gestures are the iconic moves Hadoken, Shoryuken, and Tatsumaki Senpu-kyaku, and they will have attack properties.
Monster Hunter Wilds was our most anticipated game of the year, and it largely delivered. In my review, I found the new Focus Mode and Wound System to be perfect additions, although they do make the game a bit easier compared to previous titles. We were also huge fans of Street Fighter 6 when it launched in 2023, and I said it’s to the Street Fighter series what Monster Hunter World was to the Monster Hunter series, significantly lowering the barrier to entry without compromising core gameplay.
