Earlier today, the Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase detailed the first free Title Update that officially launches on April 4, 2025. With it comes the addition of the leviathan Mizutsune, which was last seen in Monster Hunter Rise. The hunt begins at Hunter Rank 21 by speaking with Kanya in the Scarlet Forest. Players who are at Hunter Rank 41 and above will encounter Tempered Mizutsune in the wild. Mizutsune won’t be the only monster addition, as Arch-tempered Rey Dau will debut in an Event Quest (April 30 to May 21) for players above Hunter Rank 50. That mark will also unlock a mission to once again hunt Zoh Shia, which will unlock its appearance for additional hunts. This means players can gather Zoh Shia parts for high-rank hunter gear and Palico equipment.
Title Update 1 will also add Arena Quests, Challenge Quests, and Free Challenge Quests, although Challenge and Free Challenge Quests will only appear as limited-time Event Quests. Those who have played previous Monster Hunter titles will be familiar with Arena Quests and Challenge Quests, which can be completed by up to two players using pre-determined equipment. The newly introduced Free Challenge Quests gets rid of that equipment restriction and expands parties to up to four players. Players can compete for faster clear times on the Expedition Record Board for special pendants as rewards.

Another major feature being added with the free update is the Grand Hub. It’s a huge gathering space for hunters and will even house minigames like Barrel Bowling. This is also where players can observe Suja’s traditions, including the Diva singing at night. To unlock the Grand Hub, players must be at least Hunter Rank 16 and talk to Tetsuzan in Suja. Once unlocked, the Squad Information Counter will move from the Windward Plains to the Grand Hub. This is where players will also find the new Expedition Record Board.
To celebrate the launch of the Grand Hub, the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance will take place from April 23 to May 7. This is one of many unique seasonal celebrations that will be held at the communal area. During these festivals, the meals will change, and hunters will be able to obtain limited-time equipment, gestures, Pop-Up Camp decorations, and more.
Monster Hunter Wilds will get another update at the end of May, which will include a collaboration with another Capcom title and a new feature to allow players to see the Endemic Life they’ve captured. Title Update 2 will arrive sometime in the summer and Capcom is already teasing the re-emergence of a long-awaited monster—veterans will likely recognize it in the short teaser at the end of today’s trailer.
In our Monster Hunter Wilds review, we praised the game for making just the right amount of changes to keep combat feeling fresh and familiar. However, we encountered issues on PC with frequent crashes and performance problems, even on an RTX 4090 PC. Still, Monster Hunter Wilds is an excellent co-op experience and comes highly recommended, even if you’re new to the series.
