Thanks to Atlus, I’ve been spending all my free time this week exploring the world of Metaphor: ReFantazio ahead of its release, and I’m looking forward to spending dozens of hours this weekend exploring the United Kingdom of Euchronia. Officially released today, Metaphor: ReFantazio is already Atlus’s fastest-selling game ever as the company has confirmed the game surpassed one million units sold worldwide. This overtakes the previous record holder from earlier this year, Persona 3 Reload, which sold one million units in its first week.
Available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Metaphor: ReFantazio is currently the second best-selling game on Steam and reached a peak of 61,969 concurrent players at the time of publication. The game comes from the creators of Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5 and builds on all of those games’ foundations. While I still have many more hours to go in the game before I publish a review, Metaphor: ReFantazio has so far surpassed my expectations, which were already high, as it was one of my most anticipated games of the year.
For those who aren’t sure if the gameplay is for them, there’s a very generous demo available on all platforms.
