As expected, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls made an appearance during today’s State of Play Japan broadcast. Along with a new trailer, the team at Arc System Works announced a second closed beta for the game, running from December 5, 2025, at 12:00 AM Pacific (3:00 AM Eastern) to December 7 at 11:59 PM Pacific (December 8, 2:59 AM Eastern). It’s scheduled to run continuously during that period, assuming the servers don’t need to go down for maintenance. The first two days of the closed beta, December 5 and 6, will have CPU battles and online matches, while the final day, December 7, will only have online battles.
The new closed beta test adds Spider-Man and Ghost Rider to the roster, bringing the total number of fighters to eight. In MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, players can freely mix and match heroes and villains to create their own four-character team. The two new characters are joined by two new stages, Savage Land and the X-Mansion. The team teased plenty of Easter eggs to look for on these stages and is excited to see what players find.
This second beta test also incorporates many improvements, balance adjustments, performance optimizations, visual enhancements, and general user-experience upgrades based on feedback from the previous closed beta. Look for more details on those changes closer to December 5.
Those who participated in the first beta test will automatically be registered for the second one, and they’ll receive a reminder email from PlayStation in the coming weeks. If you registered previously but didn’t participate in the first beta, keep an eye out for an invitation email this time around.
