Last week, Marvel Snap unexpectedly became a victim of TikTok’s brief shutdown. The game, which is developed by California-based Second Dinner and published by Nuverse, was shut down at the same time as TikTok because Nuverse is a subsidiary of ByteDance. There was a lot of confusion surrounding the outage, since it was a surprise to both Second Dinner and Nuverse. Marvel Snap services in the U.S. have since been restored and the team has now announced packages for both U.S. and global players.
All existing U.S.-based players will receive the U.S. Downtime Package (details below) and players are defined as accounts that were created before January 20, 2025 and either created in the U.S. or have any activity in the U.S. in the last 30 days prior to the outage. The reward tiers are based on Collection Level.
As for non-U.S. players, they will receive the Global Gratitude Package. Those players are defined as accounts created before January 20, 2025 and not covered by the U.S.-based players definition above. That package is also broken down into different tiers based on Collection Level.
Second Dinner also wanted to note that using a VPN will not affect eligibility, and this includes players from outside the U.S. using a VPN to access the U.S. to try and receive the U.S. Downtime Package.
