Originally announced nearly a decade ago in 2014, it’s almost hard to believe that Dead Island 2 has an actual launch trailer. Releasing April 21, Dead Island 2 is developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver, and it might be a pleasant surprise, all things considered. After our disappointment with Dying Light 2, we hope Dead Island 2 will at least be fun and entertaining to play.

The sequel to Dead Island has players taking on the role of one of these six survivors: Amy, Bruno, Dani, Ryan, Carla, and Jacob. You discover you’re immune to the zombie virus, which means the fate of humanity is in your hands — a rather generic, zombie apocalypse story premise. But hey, you’ll be joined by the original Dead Island’s Sam B and some new friends as you try to escape HELL-A before the rest of the world falls victim to the plague.

While it’s easy to believe Dead Island 2 is going to be a disaster because of its shaky development, everything we’ve seen of the game looks fairly positive so far. We believe the game could be a surprisingly enjoyable experience.
