Ahead of CES 2025 in January, LG has unveiled two new monitors as part of the UltraGear GX9 series. Both displays are 45-inch, 21:9 gaming monitors that boast a 5120×2160 resolution (5K2K) and feature second-generation Dual-Mode with one-touch switching between preset resolution and refresh rate combos. The more exciting of the two is the 45GX990A, which LG is touting as the world’s first bendable 5K2K gaming monitor with Dual-Mode. According to LG, the monitor can transition from completely flat to a 900R curvature within seconds, while the upgraded Dual-Mode allows users to switch between resolution and refresh rate presets, as well as customize aspect ratio and picture size. The display has a 0.03ms GtG response time, but its refresh rate is unclear.
The second monitor is the world’s first 45-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor featuring 800R curvature and DisplayPort 2.1. Similar to its bendable counterpart, the 45GX950A features Dual-Mode functionality with eight customizable configurations. Both monitors are certified by NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.
There’s a third display that’s also joining the lineup, the all-new LG UltraGear 39GXS90SA. It’s a smart monitor powered by webOS and can serve as a home entertainment hub. It’s a 39-inch OLED display with 21:9 aspect ratio and 800R curvature.
Like all CES announcements, we can expect pricing, availability, and full specs to be revealed at a later date. We’re mostly curious to hear what the refresh rates are on these 5K2K displays.
