Killing Floor 3 was originally scheduled to release on March 25 but was delayed at the last minute on March 7. Today, developer Tripwire Interactive announced that Killing Floor 3 will now release on July 24 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The extra development time has been used to address feedback from the player community, with the studio sharing updates directly with fans. “Since delaying the launch of Killing Floor 3, we’ve dedicated the additional development time to responding to the community’s feedback, ensuring the next chapter in the much-loved cult action/horror franchise lives up to our shared vision,” said Bryan Wynia, Creative Director at Tripwire Interactive. “The support from our fans has been incredible, and with the new July 24th release date in sight, we’re thrilled to bring that vision to players not just at launch, but through the continued support of new features and content that is a hallmark of our studio.”
As the next installment in the popular co-op action-horror FPS series, Killing Floor 3 takes place in 2091, 70 years after the events of Killing Floor 2. Megacorp Horzine has produced the ultimate army of Zeds, an obedient horde of bio-engineered monstrosities. The first-person shooter puts players in the shoes of a Nightfall specialist, and they can join up to five teammates to take on wave after wave of Zeds.
It remains to be seen if the extra time will pay off for Killing Floor 3. Many of those who participated in the game’s beta felt it needed a lot more time than just a few months.
