Nintendo gave a bit of a surprise today by debuting a teaser trailer for Hyrule Warriors, a Legend of Zelda spin-off being developed by Tecmo Koei. Essentially it’s a Dynasty Warriors game, but set in Hyrule and starring Link. Expect plenty of hack-and-slash action with combo attacks combined with traditional Zelda items such as bombs. No firm release date was announced, but Hyrule Warriors is still a working title for the game and it is expected to be released sometime next year.
Hyrule Warriors is not the next-generation Wii U Zelda title that Nintendo is working on. Hyrule Warriors is a spin-off project and proves that Nintendo is willing to let third-party developers use their first-party content to produce games.
