Hyrule Warriors is heading to the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS handheld consoles, as an announcement trailer was put live earlier than expected. The video has since been taken down, but several mirrors have already appeared including one from Hidden Triforce. It appears that all the characters from the original Hyrule Warriors for the Nintendo Wii U will make a return for the 3DS version of the game, as well as the addition of Tetra and the King of Hyrule in their The Wind Waker forms.
According to the video, the game is being developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja and will include some form of compatibility with the existing Wii U version.

Although the announcement trailer was for the Japanese market, it is highly likely that Hyrule Warriors will also head to the U.S. for the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS consoles. Surprisingly, it appears based on the box art shown in the video, that the game will be compatible with the older Nintendo 3DS systems and won’t be exclusive to the New 3DS. It is a safe assumption however, that the game will run smoother on the New 3DS, which packs a faster processor.
